July 2010 (Volume 5, Issue 7)

Dear Paddocks Press Fan,

Prof. Graham Paddock Well, the World Cup is over and everybody is back from the extended mid-year holiday, so it is back to normal?

Well, not quite. The roads are certainly better than they were before the World Cup, but I swear there are more cars on the roads. As the roads improve, do more people drive? Are cars cheaper, or do more people have money to run them? Maybe a lot of the tourists decided to stay on?

Who knows? Life is good!

Kind regards,

Graham

Disqualifications from voting

Jennifer Paddock

A look at owner and trustee meetings

By Jennifer Paddock

Owner meetings
The right to vote is one of the normal consequences of membership of an association. An owner of a unit in a sectional title scheme is automatically a member of the body corporate and will usually have the right to vote at all of its general meetings either personally, by proxy or through another legally recognised representative.

However... (reading time: ±1 min)

Energy efficient light

Robert Paddock

Maintenance

By Rob Paddock

The problem with a "normal light bulb" is that the heat it generates wastes a lot of electricity. Heat is not light, and the purpose of the light bulb is to produce light, so all of the energy spent creating heat is wasted. As a result, incandescent bulbs are very inefficient.
