Paddocks has some very
important information to share…

This week Friday, 27 February 2015 the Chief Ombudsman, Mr Themba Mthethwa, will be live on TV.

He will appearing be on a show called "Yilungelo Lakho (It’s Your Right)", on SABC 1 at 13:30.

The aim of the show is to educate the public about consumer rights. They will talk about the CSOS - the history of the office, how it will assist consumers, and how consumers can access them.

The show will have an interactive session for people to call in. We encourage our Paddocks community to take advantage of this!

To do so, you can contact them on 011 714 6919 / 6918 during the show.
Don't Miss Out!

If you have not yet had a look at our Paddocks Club Birthday Special, I recommend that you do so soon, as the offer ends on Friday, 27 February 2015.
University of Cape Town: Sax Appeal

The yearly magazine contains edgy satire and spoof humour. It is an easy and enjoyable read. Over 2000 UCT students sold 45 000 magazines at the robots, we met a few outside our office. Did you know that in a single morning they raised over R400 000 in proceeds.
Farewell Chanel!

This month we sadly say farewell to a valued member of our team, Chanel Pienaar.

We thank Chanel sincerely for her contribution to Paddocks, and wish her all the best for the future.

She will definitely be missed!

February 2015 (Volume 10, Issue 2)
Dear Paddocks Press Fan,
What a busy month February has been - from the State of the Nation Address, to the budget speech. Even sectional title is getting its time in the spotlight with Mr Mthethwa, the Chief Ombudsman, live on an SABC programme.

In this month’s edition of Paddocks Press, Clint talks about sectional title insurance by asking the question, "Does your scheme need Batman?”. Anton suggests how to deal with short term renting. Carryn considers the effect of the POPI Act as well as discusses “Power to the People” - an article regarding generators. We end off with our Questions and Answer section, where we share two very interesting questions that were raised on the Paddocks Club discussion forum recently.
Kind regards,
Graham

P.S. The 4-week online UCT Sectional Title Meetings and Sectional Title Trustee Training courses close this Friday, 27 February 2015.
Sectional Title Insurance
Does your Scheme Need Batman?
By Clint Riddin
A well-known area of central Cape Town has as its catch phrase “live, work, play”. Mixed schemes could contain residential units, retail units, office space, commercial parking components, hotels with their associated rental pools, and, in some of the more modern schemes, conference centres.

In this article Clint talks about the rise of the new MEGA Scheme, and the world of possible problems that could come with it. (Reading time ± 3 min.)

Short Term Renting
Holiday Renters vs. Permanent Residents
By Anton Kelly
In the month or so since the end of the holiday season we have had a number of queries about banning short-term letting in sectional title schemes. It seems that, as usual, holiday makers irritated the permanent occupiers in many of the sectional title schemes in holiday destinations around the country.

In this article Anton comes up with a solution for pesky holiday renters. (Reading time ± 2 min.)
