UCT Advanced Sectional Title Scheme Management Course

The University of Cape Town (Law@Work) Advanced Sectional Title Scheme Management Course is offered as two separate courses: Topics 1 - 6 and Topics 7 - 12.

The Advanced STSM Course on topics 1 - 6 will now be presented every second year and a further Advanced STSM Course covering topics 7 – 12 will be presented during the alternate years. Students are not required to complete the courses in any particular order.

The next course to be presented in October 2009 will be on topics 1 - 6. Topics 7 - 12 will be presented in 2010, dates to be confirmed.   

The Course in a Nutshell:

• Includes 3 weeks part-time tuition conducted via the internet and continuous assistance, monitoring and guidance by the Course Facilitator
• Includes a three-day intensive workshop held in Cape Town where the 6 advanced topics are presented, discussed and debated
• It is the only recognized qualification in Advanced Sectional Title Scheme Management
• Results in a Certificate of Attendance from the University of Cape Town

Topics 1-6:

1. Financial and maintenance obligations in mixed schemes
2. Individual and en-masse extension of sections
3. Extension of schemes and fractionalising scheme extension rights
4. Sectional title meeting law and procedures
5. Creating exclusive use rights and appropriate conditions
6. Providing for and enforcing financial sections
