Registration is open now for the Sectional Title Trustee Training course to be offered online starting 4 November 2013 by Paddocks

Trustees are the elected representatives of the owners in a sectional title scheme. They often have little or no understanding of the extensive legal requirements involved in sectional title scheme management and yet they are required by law to manage the scheme in accordance with them and in the best interests of the scheme.

If the trustees do not do a good job, every person involved in the scheme suffers. The value of the units may decrease due to a lack of proper maintenance and repair, the scheme’s finances may not be properly managed and disputes can ravage the body corporate due to a lack of proper rule enforcement and decisions not being taken properly. It benefits every owner and occupant in the scheme if the trustees have a general understanding of sectional title scheme management and are trained in the duties and functions related to their role. The new Sectional Title Trustee Training short learning programme gives trustees an overview of the law relating to sectional title scheme management. It concentrates on those areas most useful to trustees in rapidly understanding and playing an active role in the control of their schemes so as to encourage well-run sectional title schemes in which units achieve the highest possible commercial value.

The course, which covers four modules in four-weeks, is offered in English and presented entirely online, through the user-friendly Paddocks Learning Website. Students are provided with proactive support throughout the course, both academically and administratively. The format of the course allows busy trustees the ability to work through the course material at their own pace, and still be able to maintain a work-study-life balance.
